Vaishnavi’s story is one of resilience, hope, and ambition. At just 21 years old, she has already overcome immense challenges, but she refuses to let her past define her future.

Born in a small village, Vaishnavi grew up surrounded by family until the age of nine, when everything changed. Her parents’ conflicts reached a breaking point, and her mother left, never looking back. Not long after, her father took her and her siblings to a children’s home, where they were separated, each sent to different places. She hasn’t seen her father since.

At 13, she had a fleeting reunion with her mother—just a brief moment, a glimpse into a life that could have been. But instead of dwelling on the past, Vaishnavi focused on building a future.

Now, she’s taking a significant step toward independence and stability by enrolling in the DCI Dental Surgery Assistant Program. With fluency in both Sinhala and Tamil, and a deep determination to succeed, she is embracing this opportunity not just for herself, but for her younger siblings. She wants to be someone they can look up to—a beacon of hope proving that no matter where you come from, you can build the life you dream of.

When she’s not studying, Vaishnavi finds solace in art and music, allowing creativity to bring her peace. But for now, her focus is on her goal: to become a skilled dental assistant, secure a stable job, and create a future she once thought was out of reach.
