Hi, I’m Ann, a Dental Hygienist with a passion for empowering the next generation of dental professionals, and today, I’m excited to share my story with you.
My introduction to DCI came about unexpectedly through a friend, Suranjani. Suranjani saw an opportunity and connected me with DCI, and little did I know, that connection would change the course of my life.
In 2015, I took my first steps into the world of DCI, stepping into a role that would become my purpose for the next eight years. My responsibilities were varied, from shaping the Dental Assistant curriculum to coordinating internships and employment opportunities with Dentists. But amidst the tasks and titles, what truly fueled my passion was the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the young girls within the program.
Watching these girls blossom into confident professionals has been the highlight of my journey with DCI. Whether it’s guiding them through their studies or offering a listening ear during challenging times, being a mentor to these young minds has been incredibly fulfilling. If you were to ask me what I hope to be remembered for, it would be my patience, kindness, and the genuine connection I strive to foster with each student.
Beyond my work with DCI, I’ve been fortunate to be involved in various philanthropic activities, from dental mission trips to Peru to supporting initiatives at the Ministry of Tourism in Sri Lanka. These experiences have enriched my perspective and fueled my desire to give back to my community in any way I can.
When I’m not immersed in my work, you’ll often find me pursuing my hobbies – traveling to new destinations, capturing moments through photography, exploring nature through hiking, or enjoying a friendly game of badminton or cycling. These activities rejuvenate me and provide the balance I need to continue my work with passion and enthusiasm.
As I reflect on my journey with DCI, I’m filled with gratitude for the opportunities I’ve had and the lives I’ve been able to impact. My journey is far from over, and I’m excited to continue empowering young dental professionals and spreading hope and positivity wherever I go.
